The Not-So Lonely House
While In The Thick Of Quarantine, We Decided To Take A Long Walk.
It was our wedding anniversary and there wasn’t much else we could do.
We’d been casually looking for a new house. Scanning daily alerts from Zillow and Redfin. Peeking inside open houses, but definitely not in a rush. And we've always loved to wander and look at houses.
We’ve loved our home. It’s beautiful, filled with charm and lots of amenities. For all of its benefits there are setbacks too. It sits on a busy street and has no back yard. Maclain is growing and we want a place for him to play. A safe place to ride his bike, play with friends, etc.
With coffee in our hands, we stood in front of a lonely-looking house. Sitting on a corner lot on a quiet street with a "For Sale" sign posted in the front yard. We snuck behind a less-than-secure fence. Inside, we found a beautiful yard filled with loads of messy leaves, sagging branches and a very tired swing set.
It’s Just The Beginning
We saw all of her potential! A spacious corner lot just a little over a block from Crestmoor Park. A a few short minutes south of where we are now. She would not be lonely for long. We submitted an offer the next day and nearly a year-and-a-half later and we are in the process of building our dream home!
We’ve Lovingly Named Her “Pinemoor”
We wanted to honor its history while making her our own. There were two giant pine trees on the south side of the property. There was a lot of history in those roots. At one time they were home to small animals while provided loving shade to the family before us. Unfortunately, the trees were dying and were told they would collapse at some point. So we had to have them removed.
